Bernese hay schnapps made according to an old tradition with smoked hay
There are still real miracles in life: in the course of the renovation of the Hotel Wetterhorn in Hasliberg (Bernese Oberland), the new operators found an old document in the cellar vault. The hotel was closed for almost 30 years and nobody bothered to clean up at the time.
The document, several hundred years old, was the recipe for the once well-known "Hasliberger Heuschnaps". At the moment, nobody in the new hotel and the surrounding area knew how to prepare hay liquor. There is also no explanation of how the historical paper ended up in the basement of the Hotel Wetterhorn.
What is certain is that the recipe used to be passed on in the family from generation to generation. Like a noble treasure.
The hay schnapps is now available again in a tried and tested taste (slightly smoky, but intense). The Hotel Wetterhorn thus ties in with an old tradition and creates a very special product that is always associated with the hotel location. Important: The hay for the schnapps is smoked in peace for three days and there is only a limited number of bottles.
