Gin from the Bernese Seeland with excellent notes of spice and juniper.
"A schnapps enthusiast, a spice enthusiast and the well-known master distiller Oliver Matter meet" - that sounds almost like the beginning of a joke, but it is the beginning of the success story of the Gingo Power Spice Gin, which is characterized by its spice and juniper notes .
Whether vermouth, gin or absinthe - Oliver Matter has had an influence on almost all new Swiss spirits. Matter also had a hand in the Power Spice Gin, which was first distilled in 2016, but he was not alone.
The basic idea comes from schnapps enthusiast René Zimmermann. This was so inspired by a beautiful old apothecary bottle that he came up with the idea of distilling a juniper schnapps and bringing it to the market in similar bottles. He got help from Ingo Holland, the owner of a spice factory called "Altes Gewürzamt". He gets the botanicals he needs from him. The two also brought an experienced and modern-thinking distiller on board: Oliver Matter.
The trio developed a recipe in which herbal notes and juniper dominate, but also include fruity, floral and peppery notes. The citrus notes that are so common in gins have been dispensed with in the Gingo Power Spice Gin. Exactly which genes are in the recipe and remains a secret, as is customary at Matter-Luginbühl AG.
