The Kleinbasler Gin with deep local roots.

This floral gin with violets, lavender, pine needles and vanilla is shaped by different influences from Kleinbasel and the wider Basel region.

Discussing, experimenting and trying - that's how Christian Stutz, Christian Kaiser, Nadia Balz and Manuel Ailinger from Basel worked on their own spirit for months. It was clear that it would be a Kleinbasler gin in which modern influences, local traditions and local botanicals flow together.

Ultimately, lavender, violets, anise, vanilla, cinnamon, pine needles and cardamom made it into the final selection, which accompany the obligatory juniper. Lavender and pine needles come from the region. In addition, spring water from the public Kleinbasler Rebhaus fountain, which was built in 1863 and has been a listed building since 1915, is used to reduce the drinking strength.

In order to establish a reference to the homeland, the young team looked around the heraldry (heraldry) of Kleinbasel. It chose the bird Gryff, which experiences its finest hour every January during a popular holiday. This Gryff can be assigned to one of the three honorary societies in Kleinbasel, which have existed since the Middle Ages and still have several hundred members today. However, they didn't just want to praise the tradition with the spirit: even the Rhine can be seen on the colored bottles. From 2018, the first batch of Gryff Basel Dry Gin was ready to drink.

At the beginning, the production took place in the Dornach distillery Zeltner, only about a quarter of an hour's drive from Basel. However, you soon switch to the city distillery, which conveniently opened in the center of Kleinbasel in the same year.

The Gryff Gin is known as the New Western Dry Gin due to its primarily floral aroma with sweet and spicy notes.
