Noos Nocino - 50cl
Ticino nut liqueur based on grappa.
When nuts are plowed by barefoot women on midsummer night, it is not a PR gag, but NOOS Nocino. Yves Branchi made the nut liqueur according to his mother's recipe.
The made-up word NOOS is derived from the word Nos. It means nut in the Ticino dialect. This is about a nocino, a walnut liqueur from Ticino.
According to legend, around the summer solstice, barefoot women pick immature walnuts on a mystical night. And that's exactly how NOOS is implemented. Cut by hand, the nuts are placed in the finest grappa from Ticino together with Swiss sugar and various spices and are exposed to the weather for 40 nights for maceration.
Yves Branchi created the liqueur based on his mother's recipe and found it so delicious that he ended his career to make it. In 2015 he carried out the 3 liter Nocino test. In 2016 it was already 300 liters. And today Yves Branchi produces 800 liters of the mystical drink every year.
The secret of his walnut liqueur is not only the quality of the ingredients, but also the passion that you put into your own product. At NOOS, the story is also very important. The reason why barefoot women pick nuts on midsummer night today, as it was in Roman times, is due to the fact that during this time many plants are stuffed with essential oils because the earth shines with many hours of sunshine.
