Säntisblick 1610 whiskey oak barrel 5 years old - 20cl
Sweet and fruity whiskey from Niederbüren.
A balanced, sweet and fruity whiskey from Niederbüren in Switzerland. Distilled in honor of the founder of St. Gallen.
The Säntisblick distillery was created by chance. Bruno Eschmann, the founder, was dealing with plums damaged by the rain in his orchard, and he wondered what to do with the fruit. He decided to make a fruit brandy, and this Vieille Prune, born out of necessity, promptly received an award. Eschmann made the first attempts to produce whiskey in 2009, and from 2011 production was expanded professionally. Different grains and different barrels were tested. The result is a remarkable range of different whiskeys, including single malts, made from regionally grown grains such as barley and maize, which are matured in unique barrels, sometimes also in the barrels of our own fruit brandy production. Bruno Eschmann has also been growing his own rye since 2019, which is used in whiskey production. Today, Bruno and Monika Eschmann's Säntisblick distillery is a real insider tip in the Swiss whiskey scene.
For the expansion of the 1610, Bruno Eschmann used old oak barrels that were previously used for sherry and bourbon. The result is a five-year-old, very balanced whiskey that smells of fresh grain and, in addition to malty aromas with its fine, fruity-sweet notes, is actually reminiscent of muesli bars.
With its name "1610", the whiskey is a commemoration of St. Gallen's Day, October 16, the day of honor of the founder of St. Gallen.
The whiskey has 43 percent alcohol by volume and comes in a cylindrical, clear glass bottle with a capacity of 0.5 liters and a dark blue label with gold printing.
