Säntisblick Single Malt Whiskey Vieille Prune barrel 3 years old - 20cl
A fresh, fruity brandy from Niederbüren SG with a special note of plum.
The Swiss Säntisblick distillery owes its existence to a pure coincidence. For the fruit farmer Bruno Eschmann, heavy rain had damaged the plum harvest on his plantation. He therefore looked for another use for his fruits. So he distilled a fruit brandy, and this Vieille Prune, which arose out of necessity, immediately won prizes. From 2009, Eschmann took steps to make whiskey. Different grains were burned and different barrels were tried for the expansion. This resulted in an amazing selection of different whiskeys, including single malts, made from regionally grown grains that are matured in selected barrels, sometimes also in the barrels of our own fruit brandy distillation. Bruno Eschmann has been planting his own rye for the production of his whiskeys since 2019. The Säntisblick distillery is now well known among Swiss whiskey connoisseurs.
A creation by Bruno Eschmann is the single malt from the former Vieille Prune barrel. This brandy gets its characteristic, fruity note through the aging in a barrel from the production of the sweet plum distillate. Light barley malt from spring barley gives the brandy its malty touch. Nice aromas of nuts and almonds complete the taste experience. With its plum aroma in particular, the single malt Vieille Prune is a brand that is not often found in the world of whiskey - but at two years of age it is a bit too young to actually be allowed to call itself "whiskey". In terms of taste, this doesn't affect it in any way. The brand is absolutely equal to a "real" whiskey.
The brandy has 48 percent alcohol by volume and comes in a cylindrical, clear glass bottle with a capacity of 0.5 liters and a white-blue label.
